Can I Bring a Picture of the Nail Design I Want?
Yes. Bring a photo to your appointment at K&T Nails and Spa. It is the fastest way to get the set you actually want, and it does not have to be a picture of nails. A dress, a phone case, a movie poster, or a color you keep coming back to all work. You do not need to know the words for what you want.
What does a custom nail design look like in practice?
A custom set at K&T Nails and Spa usually starts with a situation, not a technique. One guest came in with two events and one set of hands. She was seeing Spider-Man that weekend, and school started Monday. She wanted something that worked for both.
We put hand painted spiderwebs on two accent nails, white with fine black outlines, and kept the other eight soft. Long almond shape, pink to white ombré, glossy white tips, high shine gel on top. From across a room it reads as a pink manicure. Up close it is unmistakable.
She never asked for “almond acrylics with ombré and hand painted detail.” She described her weekend and her first day of school and showed us what she liked. Translating that into shape, length and finish is our job, not yours.
What makes a good reference photo for nails?
The most useful reference photos give a nail technician at K&T Nails and Spa three things: a pattern to work from, an idea of your daily wear, and a deadline.
- Bring two or three images. Several photos reveal what they have in common. Usually it is the shape or the color, rarely both.
- It does not have to be nails. A dress, a phone case, a movie poster, a color you like. All of it works.
- Say what your hands do. If you type all day, garden, or work with your hands, say so before we pick a length.
- Say if there is a date. A wedding, a first day, a holiday. The deadline changes what we recommend.
You are welcome to bring your own polish. K&T Nails and Spa cannot guarantee the same longevity with products we have not worked with before.
Do I need an appointment for hand painted nail art?
Walk-ins are welcome at K&T Nails and Spa, but call ahead at (714) 820-6172 for hand painted work, especially on weekends. Hand painted art takes longer than a standard service.
K&T Nails and Spa is at 5353 Katella Ave, Ste A, Cypress, CA 90720, next to Costco. Open Monday - Friday 9am - 7pm and Saturday 9am - 6pm, closed Sunday. The salon has been open since January 2022.
How long does a hand painted set last?
Hand painted art lasts as long as the set underneath it. At K&T Nails and Spa, gel manicures typically last 2 to 3 weeks with proper care and gel pedicures last 3 to 4 weeks. Dipping powder typically lasts 3 to 4 weeks.
Longevity depends on your nail growth rate and daily activities. We recommend returning for maintenance every 2 to 3 weeks.
One last thing, since it is the reason this set exists. You do not have to have it all figured out yet. Show up curious. Ask the question you think is too basic, because it usually is not. Confidence is not something you wait to feel. It is something you practice. And sometimes it starts with something small that makes you feel like yourself.
